§ A different derivation of the bepop notes
§ Major C bebop
- In the key of C, first play the major 6th. This gives us
C E G A. - Now, play the notes that are in the scale but were not played, which gives us
D F B. - To make the semitone steps even, we add a
Ab, which gives D (Eb E) F (F# G) Ab (A Bb) B. - This gives us the bepop scale, which takes all the notes
C E G A and adds the D F Ab B to it.
§ Harmonic Minor C bebop
- I don't know if this will work.
- The full harmonic minor scale is
C D Eb F G Ab B. - The sixth chord is
C Eb G Ab. - The notes in the scale that are not in the chord are
D F B. - To make the semitone steps even, we add
E and Bb, which gives us D (Eb E) F (F# G) Ab (A Bb) B. - Doesn't really change much?
§ Melodic Minor C bebop
- The full melodic minor scale is
C D Eb F G Ab Bb. - The sixth chord is
C Eb G Ab. - The notes in the scale that are not in the chord are
D F Bb. - No way to make the semitone steps even :(
